My sharpest memory of the four-roomed house in Tladi, Soweto, where I grew up is food. It attracted strangers that we ended up knowing as uncles and aunts, only to learn later in life that we not were even related. They were lured by the aromatic and fragrant dishes my late grandmother would generously whip up.
The Hospitality Counsel hosted their annual Luxe Restaurant awards in collaboration with the House of BNG on November 3rd, after a 9-month delay due to ongoing Covid pandemic.
More than 100 nominees were shortlisted for the prestigious wards ceremony, with categories ranging from the best fine dining restaurants to the best burger joints in South Africa. Among the over 100 nominees, Chef Nti walked away with 2 awards – One for Culinary Media Personality of The Year and the other for her restaurant – African Restaurant of The Year.
We have seen Chef Nti’s career sore into great heights over the years, from TV appearance to her having her own cook book. These awards are affirmation of her hard work and dedication towards her passion.

Taste Kitchen opened its doors July 2018, and has since been hosting intimate bespoke events showcasing Chef Nti’s modern take on traditional African meals. The menu celebrates Africa’s culinary heritage.
